(PS: Inet zuhause spinnt. Eigentlich funktioniert es… Weiß nicht, was da jetzt wieder faul ist.)
DE paddies 17 Jager Bombers 14
DE paddies have never done things the easy way, and so it proved in last night’s thrilling Plate Final in Dundrum. In a classic encounter which see-sawed back and forth, DE Paddies eventually did just enough to take home some well earned silverware. This was tag rugby at its most exciting. Indeed, some of the rugby they produced was top notch, and Emer’s two first half tries were of the highest order: the first from taking the ball on the burst at first receiver, and the second following superb passing from Shane and Michael. By half-time a 12-7 lead had been established, with Peter (outstanding on the night), Michael and Shane adding further points.
The second half was a different story, as Jager Bombers fought back, dragging the scores back to 13-13 with a succession of tries as concentration lapsed and tags were missed. With DE paddies rocking, and hopes of silverware diminishing by the second, it was left to Aideen to side-step the defence, ghost through the gap and over the line for the all-important match-winning try – a score to grace any occasion. At the time of going to press, DE paddies were last seen drinking from the plate/peanut bowl.
